200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Two Paths. One Transformational Training.

Soul Shine Yoga offers two ways to complete your 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training: our small-group spring immersion and a private 1:1 mentorship with Emily.

Private certification is available in both Vinyasa and Restorative teaching paths. Our group training focuses on Vinyasa.

Both paths are designed to deepen your practice, strengthen your understanding of yoga, and help you grow into a confident, authentic teacher.

Choose Your Training Path

Spring Group Training
Our traditional group training meets over five immersive weekends each spring. This path offers the energy of community, shared discussion, group practice teaching, and connection with fellow students.

1:1 Mentorship Training
For students who need more flexibility or want a more personalized experience, Emily also offers a private 1:1 mentorship format. This option allows you to begin at a time that works for you and move through the training on a customized schedule.

Because each 1:1 training is customized, details are shared by inquiry.

Choose Your Teaching Focus with 1:1 Mentorship Training

Vinyasa Yoga Path

Designed for students drawn to dynamic movement, intelligent sequencing, breath-led flow, and energetic class design.

Restorative Yoga Path

Designed for students interested in nervous system support, rest practices, therapeutic stillness, and slower, grounding experiences.

Both paths include foundational yoga history, philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, practice teaching, and Yoga Alliance certification requirements.

Certification

Soul Shine Yoga School is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School. Upon completion of either training path, students will complete a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training and be eligible to apply to become a Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher.

For students who are ready for a more personal path, 1:1 mentorship offers a flexible, highly supported way to complete your 200-hour training. Contact Emily to explore whether this option is the right fit.

Meet Emily

Emily Sommerville is the founder of Soul Shine Yoga and the Lead Trainer for the 200 hour training. She is a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 Teacher, Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider, Teacher Trainer, Certified Holistic Health Coach, Life Coach and Reiki Master.

Emily completed her 200 hour training with Melanie Buffet in 2012 and her 300 hour training to become an Urban Zen Integrative Therapist under Pamela Hunter in Naperville, IL. She has pursued additional studies with Baron Baptiste, Kiersten Mooney, Rodney Yee and Colleen Yee and Jason Crandell. Emily has completed over 700 hours of training and has lead 200 hour teacher trainings since 2015.

Emily began practicing yoga in the late 1990’s. Over the years, as she moved from Atlanta to London and then New York, her practice was “consistently inconsistent.” In 2012, Emily committed to her practice and enrolled in teacher training seeking a better way to manage stress and develop her personal practice. A CPA and business consultant, Emily left the corporate world after 15 years and opened Soul Shine Yoga in downtown Fairhope in 2014. Soul Shine exists to support and encourage the development of teachers and students in the eight limbs of yoga and to build community along the Eastern Shore.
